Grist
At Grist, we believe that news about green issues and sustainable living doesn’t have to be predictable, demoralizing, or dull. We exist to tell the untold stories, spotlight trends before they become trendy, and engage the apathetic. We’re fiercely independent in our coverage; we throw brickbats when they’re needed and bestow kudos when they’re warranted. And while we take our work seriously, we don’t take ourselves seriously, because of the many things this planet is running out of, sanctimonious tree-huggers ain’t one of them. www.grist.org

Born Free USA
Born Free USA united with Animal Protection Institute (Born Free USA) works to alleviate captive animal suffering, rescue individual animals in need, protect wildlife — including highly endangered species — in their natural habitats, and encourage compassionate conservation globally. As part of the international Born Free family, we save imperiled wild animals from the global onslaught driving them to critical levels and protect the environments in which they live — whether it’s the elephants’ African savannah, tiger landscapes in India, or sea turtle nesting beaches in Israel. Our favorite “green” place is the lush landscape of our Primate Sanctuary in Texas, home to more than 500 primates, many of whom were rescued from grim conditions and now reside in a naturally enriched environment with minimal human interference.

In the film Born Free, the true story of Elsa the lioness touched the hearts of millions. Elsa’s spirit and journey to freedom remains the inspiration for Born Free USA today. Learn more at www.bornfreeusa.org

We want those who come after us to inherit a world where the wild is still alive. www.biologicaldiversity.org
